RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

When you register for The 2023 Spring Pompano Showdown, information such as name and phone number will be gathered.

You will be assigned an "Angler Number". This could be a 1 digit number (It won't be a 1 digit number), or a 16 digit number (it won't be a 16 digit number) You will have no idea how many digits are in the number, or what your number is. Don't ask.

During tournament weekend, make sure you have your angler number written clearly on the back of your hand. Black Sharpie would be best. Once you catch a fish that you think is tournament worthy, this is how you should proceed:

  • I would suggest getting the fish unhooked first, and mentally prepare yourself for the next steps.
  • Once you start the video recording on your phone, you cannot stop it until all obligations are completed.
  • If something happens and you do stop it, start the process over with a new video.

The following is what we need to see if you have a winning fish.

  • Start the video.
  • Show that the fish is freshly caught. Flopping basically.
  • Measure the fish. Make sure the measurement is clearly visible in the video.
  • Show your angler number that is written on the back of your hand.
  • With the camera still recording, give us a 360 view of your surroundings. WE NEED ONE CONTINUOUS VIDEO.
  • Once this process is complete, you are done. You do not need to send the video anywhere. You will need it at the weigh-in if your fish places.

  • No edited videos will be accepted.
  • No "technical issues" will be accepted.
  • No Photos will be accepted.
  • No "I lost my phone" will be accepted.
  • No "I got half the video and then my battery died" will be accepted.
  • If there are boats, kayaks, paddle-boards, flotation devices, canoes, or any other vessel in your surroundings while filming, we will assume they are yours, and you are using them to catch pompano/whiting "off shore". Your fish will be eliminated from the tournament.
